Shimadzu Pharmaceutical Science Camp at The University of Toledo College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences
Jun 2016
The Shimadzu Pharmaceutical Sciences Summer Camp is open to enlighten next generation of students in the pharmaceutical field and takes place at The University of Toledo. This two-day camp will take place annually starting June 2016. It will provide qualifying high school students an opportunity to explore the field of pharmaceutical sciences in preparation for a university academic program. The laboratory- and technology-focused camp gives students a hands-on approach to learn the science behind several pharmaceutical fields, including drug discovery, chemistry, and cosmetic science. Students will explore these topics through laboratory exercises, faculty presentations, career panels, and small group discussions. The camp also provides an opportunity to interact with current UT Pharmacy students as well.

Shimadzu Institute for Research Technologies at the University of Texas at Arlington
Feb 2013 -
The Shimadzu Institute for Research Technologies was established February 28th, 2013 as a result of the partnership between the University of Texas at Arlington and the Shimadzu Corporation. It is comprised of multiple instrumentation facilities, each with a different research focus, and operated under the “centralized research resources” model. Founded on the premise that eliminating barriers to research technologies and creating a mutual space for interaction promotes scientific advances that traditional approaches cannot. This holistic and interdisciplinary approach is crucial in driving leading-edge research with a major impact on scientific study and entrepreneurship. Each center is staffed with appropriate expertise bringing an additional level of accessibility that traditionally has not existed in research facilities.

Shimadzu do Brasil supports young scientists of Unicamp
May 2015
University of Campinas (Unicamp) was officially founded on October 5, 1966. Even compared with other Brazilian universities, the oldest of which was established 70 years ago, the Unicamp can be considered a young institution and one that has already developed a strong tradition in education, research and services to society. Shimadzu has provided analytical instruments and technical supports for their young scientists in a variety of fields such as medical and chemistry sciences.
Collaborative Research Projects with Thomson Mass Spectrometry Laboratory at Unicamp
Mar 2015 - Feb 2018
Mass spectrometry application in a real case of acute intoxication after alternative natural therapy treatment
Mass spectrometry strategies in order to diagnostic a real case of intoxication with active substances from Ayahuasca and Kambo.
Prospection and evaluation of the biological and functional potential of the Brazilian Cerrado fruit Araticum (Annona crassiflora Mart.)
Identify and quantify the phenolic compounds from Brazilian Cerrado fruit Araticum (Annona crassiflora Mart.) using UHPLC-MS/MS.
Profile of bioactive compounds and functional propertis of calabura (Muntingia calabura L.) and mutamba (Guazuma ulmifolia Lim.) fruits
Identify and quantify the phenolic compounds from exotic fruits calabura (Muntingia calabura L.) and mutamba (Guazuma ulmifolia Lim.) using UHPLC-MS/MS.
Ultrasound emulsification of biquinho pepper (Capsicum chinense) extracts obtained by supercritical fluid extraction as an alternative to increase its bioactivity
Use of mass spectrometry in the identification and quantification of bioactive compounds in biquinho pepper.
Phenolic compounds in Brazilian fruits (acai, grumixama, uvaia and cambuci) and confectionery products
UHPLC-MS/MS for quantitative analysis of phenolic compounds in Brazilian fruit pulp and candies extracts.
Forced degradation studies of pharmaceutical products
Establishing a systematic guide to the forced degradation studies of drugs in different formulations
Screening for New Psychoactive Substances (NPS) in trauma victims
A screening method for NPS was developed, validated, and now will be applied to the analysis of samples (urine and serum) of trauma victims treated at the Hospital of University of Campinas
Stability of new psychoactive substances (NPS) in dried blood spots (DBS), and its application to forensic toxicology
The aim of this project is to evaluate the stability of NPS in DBS (prepared with post mortem blood), and compare the findings to the whole blood stability, stored at fridge. It will be studied 14 substances, most frequently identified at Forensic Toxicology Center (Legal Medical Institute of Sao Paulo), and also substances that, according to the literature, have low stability in blood and / or urine.
